Real-time Hybrid Simulation of Wind Blade Subcomponents
The Fast Hybrid Testing Center and the Department of Aerospace Engineering (Professor K. Maute) have submitted to DOE ("20% wind by 2030, overcoming the challenges" initiative) and NSF ("Cyber-Physical Systems") a major research proposal to investigate the saftey of wind blades through real-time hybrid simulation.
This project is in collaboration with the Wind Technology Center of the National Renawable Energy Laboratory (NREL), MTS Corportation for testing equipment and support, and Vestas, a leading wind-turbine manufacturer.
Stay tuned.
